CT
Scan (Computed Tomography)
A
"CT" or "CAT" Scan is the term used
to describe a radiological test known as
"Computed Tomography". The Scanner is a
doughnut-shaped machine that takes pictures
of cross-sections of your body, called "slices".
CT scans can see inside the brain
and other parts of the body that cannot
be seen on regular x-ray examinations. CT
scans enable direct imaging and differentiation
of soft tissue structures, such as lay tissue,
liver and fat.
This is useful in searching for large spaces
occupying lesions, tumors and metastasis.
CT imaging of the head and brain
can detect blood clots, blood vessels defects
and tumors. CT scanning is relatively simple,
safe and a completely painless examination.
Depending on the type of study being done,
you may be injected with or be asked to
drink contrast dyes because most diseases
are better treated when found early. CT
scanning is an important diagnosis tool
in any doctor's arsenal and certainly save
lives.

Mammography
A
Mammography is a special type of x-ray
imaging used to create detailed images of
the breast. Mammography uses low-dose x-ray;
high contrast, high-resolution film and
is an x-ray system designed specifically
for imaging the breasts.
Successful treatment of breast cancer
depends on early diagnosis. A Mammography
plays a major role in early detection of
breast cancers.
Reports show that a mammography
can find 85 to 90 percent of breast cancers
in women over 50 and can discover a lump
up to two years before it can be felt. If
a lump is discovered a mammography can be
key tool in evaluating the lump to determine
if it is cancerous. If a breast abnormality
is found or confirmed with a mammography,
additional breast imaging tests such as
ultrasound (sonography) or a breast biopsy
can and will be performed.

(3) What does
a physical examination include? -

patient, but also the surroundings as well
